Bordered by the tall and graceful Hallasan Mountains in the North, an endless Dampalsu Forest in the South, Holang is a monarchy led by the immortal spirit Sanshin for 700 years ever since it had been founded.

Sanshin was once a mortal man, who was seen as the guardian spirit by the people of a small, forgotten town. Residing in the Hallasan Mountains and associated with mountain tigers, he was often the source of comfort, safety and prosperity for them. His age and precise residence unknown to many, people talked of him as a good looking youth, who appeared with a small smile on his lips and approached those who needed to relieve their mind. He talked shortly but with good intentions, touched others' hearts and mind with his carefully chosen statements. As a consequence, the folk mentioned only good things about him until their words were twisted on the lips of prognoses and became the rumours that destroyed every piece of impartialness in him.

The rumours started when an elderly woman pointed out the eternal youth of Sanshin. She said it was a curse of deities and would bring nothing but malignancy to their peaceful town. Her venomous words erased every good Sanshin did for the folk and instead, left him alone under the hateful gaze of the humans. They believed Sanshin's mother was punished harshly for stealing the holy flower of Gods and was commanded to grow royal azalea flowers on the rocky plateau for the rest of her life. Her unfortunate destiny sprinkled the blood from her worn fingers on the flowers, giving them their deep-red beauty. At the end of her days, the woman deeply repented her sins and knelt up in front of lit candles facing the great heaven for forgiveness. Thus, upon taking her soul, the deities cursed her child with immortality.

The cruel but also truthful rumours soon spread around the town like a flame that aimed to burn the history into ashes. The loving and accepting gaze of people replaced themselves with fear, envy and malignment, and they soon pricked the innocent man that wished nothing but a chance to redeem himself, to forget his mother's sins that stood on his soul like a stain. He watched his lover to be murdered, his wooden home to be burned and humans to erase every good he once tried to offer them.

So, Sanshin killed the innocent man in him and let his flesh reborn as a curse with an unprecedented amount of kills to his name. He caused the town to crumble to the pieces and raise an empire from the ashes.

The empire was painted in blood and flesh after Sanshin ascended to the throne as he killed anyone that objected his goal, including the previous royal family; he brought great fear to those dared to stand against him. Throughout the seven hundred years, once the innocent man, led and raised the empire alone until ancient Gods and Goddesses decided to return to the stage. Thus, they chose mortal children among the humans and gifted them a part of themselves that made them stronger than an ordinary human, almost an immortal ─ a demigod.

୭ Army System ::

Holang Empire has a powerful army system and was divided to two parts based on the soldiers and their capability; First and Second Army. Both men and women are enlisted, however, the First Army does not recruit people outside of Holang, as the Second Army does.

First Army, also known as the Royal Army, is Holang's first line of defence against outside threats and it consists humans only. The youngest age to recruit is 18. They are based in the fortress around the empire and some of them work patrol in the palace.

Second Army, is a military regiment that is based in the Holang Palace and is made up of only demigods. They are the strongest defence against both inside and outside threats, the youngest age to recruit is 15.

There is a natural rivalry, bordering on hostility, between the First and Second Armies, arising from a mistrust of demigods.

୭ Weapons ::

Despite the modern technology that is used in the empire, modern weapons such as guns and nuclear machines do not exist. Used weapons include bow, crossbow, sword, broad knife, spear, battleaxe, whip, blunt sword, hammer, fork, dagger, shield and poisonous needles.

୭ Civil Life, Social Media and Occupation::

The life in Holang is similar to the modern world, all occupations, education systems, transportations are the same. For attire, people might decide to wear modern or traditional clothes.

All countries except Korean exist, as Korea is accepted as Holang Empire in the roleplay's settings. The capital is Pyobeom, however, cities such as Busan, Daegu, Seoul still exist and can be the hometown of your muse unless they were born in the capital. Pyebeom, as a location, is beside Seoul and includes half of it.

Social Media exists as people use mobile phones and computers as well. It completely depends on a person to use or not use social media.

002. Subscription and upvoting are optional, however, it is appreciated if you do so.

003. All sexualities and face claims from all Asian nations are accepted as long as they are not minors. Same goes for the muns, we accept people aged 18 and above. We do not allow race-bending, which means if your face claim is Korean, your muse's ethnicity has to be Korean as well.

004. This is an Alternative Universe roleplay based on modern settings and Korean mythology, with a slight mix of Percy Jackson and Grishaverse books. Therefore, your muse is not an idol but an original character created by you. As it is also semi-lit/ literate roleplay, please keep emojis in OOC messages or sns format posts.

005. Due to roleplay's nature, we expect muse's to have names and surnames based on their ethnicity. You are allowed to have a western name or other Asian nations' name if your muse left Holang Empire for a while during their past and get themselves a new name while living in another country. In such a case, we expect you to mention it in their background.

006. Your muse’s age has to be around that of your face claims age, can be altered to five years younger or older than your face claim. You can also choose an occupation for your muse if they are not part of Second Army in the palace, such as a doctor, engineer, student, establishment owner, celebrity, etc.

007. One account per individual, the second one is allowed after your first muse actively have been in the roleplay for three weeks and have ongoing three threads with different muses. Keep in mind that if your first muse is part of the triumvirate, second army or revolters, your second muse cannot be part of the same organisation as those spots are limited. Character and background change is allowed after a week you have been in the roleplay. Second character change can be done a month after your first character change. You need to get the admin team's approval for both the second muse and to change your muse face claim or details.

008. Activity is based on threads and public interactions. If you fail to be active within two weeks after your arrival, you'll be removed from the roleplay. You can't ask for a hiatus in the week of your arrival, please join if you think you can be around a couple of days in a week and interact with others. The longest hiatus is up to two weeks, whereas semi-hiatus is for three weeks.

009. In character, the drama is allowed as long as it is staged by two muns: a plot both of them agreed with. Out of character drama is forbidden, in case of witnessing such act, do reach admin team for help. Depending on the situation, those who make OOC drama either will get a warning/strike or will be removed from the roleplay. Please do not block anyone and add every member inside the roleplay. This is a closed roleplay so please do not add people, who are not part of the roleplay or whose arrival is not announced in the arrival group.

010. Moving couples are allowed as long as they communicate and roleplay with others as well, limited interactions with others or bubble roleplaying might lead to removal from the roleplay. You're also allowed to have plots about an arranged marriage. Pregnancy and mpreg are not allowed. Your muse can have a child as a part of their backstory as long as you do not solely focus on the NPC child.

011. Mention of sensitive topics, such as rape, incest, underage intercourse, suicide is not allowed in public posts. Those topics might be triggering for someone else so avoid mentioning them in public. For other triggering topics, please put a trigger warning above your thread/post.

012. Please avoid god-modding, bubble roleplaying or face/ship chasing. If you notice anyone doing so, approach the admin team for a solution. Be sure to differentiate IC and OOC, try to welcome everyone as no one likes feeling left out. Be respectful to everyone.

013. Inform admins if you're leaving by messaging the mod account; if you are going to deactivate your mewe account please message us on asianfanfics or Tumblr. We do not need a reason, just a simple "I'm leaving" is enough.

014. A bio is not obligatory, you can either prepare one or discover your character throughout the threads. Just be sure to not change your muse's status or personality in every different thread and maybe prepare one paragraph to describe them. If you want to write a bio, take your time. we do not rush you as we understand you might need some time to be accustomed to the roleplay setting and find inspiration.

015. despite this place being in a fictional setting where superpowers and things of the kind exist, we wish to keep it as realistic and down-to-earth as possible. this means we wish for the muses to not be overpowered nor with prodigy-like backgrounds as to keep a fair balance. for more information regarding recommended ages for certain occupations, please visit our about page. if your muse were to be younger than the recommended ages, you must include solid reasoning for it in the "anything you want to tell admins?" section."

triumvirate

Triumvirate is the group of people who command the Second Army and is closest guards of the monarch. It was established after Sanshin's first encounter with a demigod fifteen years ago and consists his most trustful three allegiances. They have the most superior position in the empire after Sanshin, often travel around the borders to be sure about the empire's safety, recruit demigods into the Second army and even train them. Some of them work as a Cartographer as well and have a right to attend inter-ministerial meetings.

second army

The Second Army is a military regiment that is based in the Holang Palace and is made up of only powerful demigods. They are the strongest defence against both inside and outside threats, only attends the wars upon the order of Sanshin and is the most superior after the Triumvirate in the palace. The youngest age to recruit is 15, however, they can be recruited at a much older age as well. Second army members' ages can range independently of their position, the status is decided by the mastering and control of their powers as well as their tactical and fighting skills. Their duties include patrolling towns, disguising themselves to gather information about the enemy, training new soldiers, keeping peace both in and outside of the palace/empire.

Revolters are a small group of demigods, who follow the order of their representative deity and aims to stand against Sanshin and save the empire from his blood-covered hands. They are extremely careful to hide their identity and uses various ways to follow through their goal. They officially became an organized underground group approximately 3 years ago and is recruited by their captain.

Crooked Kingdom is Korean mythology-based with the mixture of Percy Jackson and Grishaverse, demigod au roleplay. The universe is shifted subject to ideas of the roleplay's founders, therefore, it is work of a fiction and every tale is used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Works posted here are not for sale for any profits whatsoever.

Unlike Greek Mythology based demigods, those in this roleplay are not the direct descendants of Gods and Goddesses. Instead, they are individual that was once born as a human before they were gifted the eye, hand, hair of the deities minutes after they were born. Thus, they do not have a Godly parent but instead, they have a Godly representative. Your muse can notice their powers at a late age but has to be chosen as a delegate minutes after they were born, there can not be an exception. They can also choose to ignore their powers.

001. Is this a historical roleplay?

No, it is not. our settings are a mix of both historical and modern locations. other than the palace and army uniform, the attire is the same as the modern time.

002. What is the oldest age for a demigod?

Your muse's age can be altered to five years younger or older than your face claim, therefore, it depends on the face claim the mun chooses for their muse.

003. if a muse is a revolter, can they also be a student?

They can, however, please keep in mind that revolters are a secret community that often tries to hide their identity as a demigod. Of course, some might know they are demigods but their aim is a secret that only trustful individuals know.

004. if a muse is a part of triumvirate or second army, can they have another occupation?

No, they cannot. However, they can have a previous occupation before they joined the triumvirate of the second army.

005. Is there a camp for demigods?

No, there is not. Everyone lives in the empire, in the residential area ( apartments, dorms, etc. ).

006. Can my muse be a relative of Sanshin or another deity?

No, they cannot. Sanshin does not have any relatives and deities are not direct parents of demigods. They just gifted part of themselves to those born as a human.

007. Does my muse have to be loyal to Sanshin if they are part of the military?

If your muse is part of the triumvirate, yes, they have to be loyal to Sanshin. the reason behind their loyalty depends on mun's imagination. Those, who are part of the second army, however, can be a spy, enemy or another loyal follower of him.
